This is “Red” Pope’s first published book.
Over 150 of his articles and speeches have been printed in bank marketing books, banking trade periodicals and as content for books from which a number of others have made money.
Obviously, his audiences to date have been somewhat narrow. It is hoped this book will reverse that trend somewhat.
“Red” does have extensive travel credentials, having actually visited some 35 countries (37 if you count the fallout from the former Yugoslavia), two U.S. territories, one principality and all 50 United States.
He and Linda, his wife, have sailed on a dozen or so cruises of both ocean and river varieties, and experienced a potpourri of inns and hotels, resorts and B&Bs, elegant restaurants, Mom and Pop eateries, delis, hotel fare, 24-hour buffets and a wide variety of fromage shops, pizza joints, coffee houses and gelato vendors.
They have flown on most all types of commercial aircraft, rented stick-shifts and automatics and endured many hours in more than a few tour busses and local taxis. In sum, their travel observations come from practical experiences, and they have the prescription drugs and OTC pharmaceuticals to prove it.
“Red” is a native of Raleigh, North Carolina, a graduate of Wake Forest University. His 50-plus years business background includes a New York advertising agency, a major tobacco products manufacturer, four very large commercial banks, marketing consulting and a successful side career as a public speaker.
He has been known as Snappy The Clown in Fiesta Bowl and Aloha Festival parades. His given name is Norwood W. Pope, thus having red hair in his youth which lead to his nickname was a definite plus. He and Linda live in Scottsdale, Arizona.
